UK report on biobased & biodegradable plastics

The UK government released a report with the findings on a public consultation carried out in 2019 on the use of biobased and biodegradable/compostable plastics. Stakeholder are concerned that biobased plastics could lead to increased littering through an environmentally friendly perception, as well as negative impact on food productsion. Conversely, opinions received recognized the value of biodegradable and compostable packaging for some specific uses. These results are comparable to those found in a report published by the European Commission in 2020.
