France notified stepwise reduction of plastic content in single-use plastic cups

France notified the TRIS database of a new ministerial order establishing the timeline for the stepwise reduction of plastic content in single-use plastic cups, implementing the Single-Use Plastic Directive (SUPD). The maximum plastic content in these articles will be 15% on July 3, 2021, 8% on January 8, 2024 and finally 0% on January 1, 2026. An evaluation will be performed during 2024 of the feasibility of this last step. A 6-month grace period is in granted for disposing of existing stock after each deadline.
