The Witzhave-based RAKO Group opts for Gallus presses once again

With a single printing press, a thousand ideas and plenty of motivation, Ralph and Gabriele Koopmann founded RAKO Etiketten GmbH & Co. KG in Braak near Hamburg in 1969. They were able to expand and establish further subsidiaries just a few years later. Today, the RAKO Group is managed by Matthias Kurtz and Adrian Tippenhauer and consists of 18 companies working in areas such as adhesive labels, flexible packaging, security technologies (RFID and holograms) and software. Using a range of printing processes, from flexographic, screen and offset to rotogravure, letterpress and digital printing, RAKO now has more than 80 presses at its locations in Europe, South Africa and China and supplies customers all over the world.

RAKO Group invests in two further Gallus ECS 340 presses for its headquarters in Witzhave

With 1,400 members of staff, 700 of whom work at the company headquarters in Witzhave, the RAKO Group ranks among Europe’s largest and most cutting-edge manufacturers of adhesive labels. RAKO has used Gallus presses to great success for a number of years, particularly in flexographic printing. Eight Gallus presses are already in use at the Witzhave headquarters. The company’s confidence in the Gallus brand is clear to see – just over a year after the previous purchase, RAKO decided to invest in a further two Gallus ECS 340 presses for the Witzhave site. The two new presses are configured identically and equipped with twelve flexographic printing units. It certainly isn’t hard to see why RAKO decided to install another two Gallus ECS 340 presses. Adrian Tippenhauer, Managing Director of the RAKO Group, sees efficient production as absolutely key to cost-effective and competitive adhesive label manufacturing. Thanks to the Gallus ECS 340’s extremely short web path of just 1.10 m from one printing unit to another, paper waste is kept to a minimum. The short setup times underline the first-class performance the press delivers, while its robust design reinforces its reliability. Thanks to its technical granite core, the Gallus ECS 340 is quieter than any other machine in its class.
