Wacker Silicones Raises Prices for Pyrogenic Silica Products

WACKER, the Munich based chemical company, will raise prices worldwide for its HDK ® brand of pyrogenic silica products. The adjustment will effect a price increase of up to 10% or more, depending on the product grade. It will become effective with confirmed deliveries made on or after October 15, 2010 , or as customer contracts allow.

Despite ongoing cost optimizing measures and productivity improvements, persistently rising costs for production, environment, health and safety (EH&S) compliance measures, research & development, packaging and logistics make this step inevitable. WACKER's silicones business division WACKER SILICONES has been producing HDK® pyrogenic silica for more than 40 years and

has developed a high level of expertise in this field. Chemically, pyrogenic silica consists of ultra-pure amorphous silicon dioxide and has the appearance of a light white powder. HDK® is used as an active filler in silicone elastomers, as a thixotropic agent in coatings,

printing inks, adhesives, UP resins and plastisols or as a flow aid, for example in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food-processing industries.
