Schreiner MediPharm Develops Fixation Aid for Ease and Safety of Handling Luer Adapters
To facilitate the utilization of Luer lock syringes for medical staff, Schreiner MediPharm has developed a Luer Adapter Fixation. It reduces the risk of incorrect or incomplete screw-in of the hypodermic needle at the syringe during its insertion with the Luer adapter. The fixation solution supports accurate handling in daily healthcare settings and protects patients against painful or incorrectly performed injections that may occur.
Schreiner MediPharm’s solution specifically developed for glass syringes consists of a plastic ring that is pushed on to the Luer adapter. The ring interlocks with the Luer adapter so that the different radii of the adapter and the syringe body are equalized. The plastic ring and the syringe body are subsequently connected with each other by means of a label to firmly fix the Luer adapter in place. This results in an extended label area offering ample space for additional product information.
For digital applications, an RFID chip can be integrated. In addition, the Luer Adapter Fixation is compatible with Schreiner MediPharm’s Cap-Lock, the security concept for prefilled syringes delivering reliable tamper evidence. The adapter solution is applied without heat and thus suitable for temperature-sensitive products. The pharmaceutical manufacturer benefits from a solution ensuring a reliable process in which the syringe remains unchanged.
The Luer Adapter Fixation is optimally suited for use in emergency medicine that is prone to a higher risk of application errors. In cosmetic medicine, the new adapter solution can help as well to avoid needle pop-off especially when injecting highly viscous hyaluronic acid with high exertion of force and pressure.
