L9 WLA Best of the Best Awards 2018

The L9 group of international label associations is pleased to announce the winners of the Best of the Best Awards of the 2018 L9 World Label Awards (WLA), which were honoured during the 2019 Labelexpo Europe event in Brussels last September.

The awards represent the best labels from five main categories Flexography, Letterpress, Offset Litho, Combination Printing and Digital printing and were selected from the winning entries in the 2018 label competition. The competition is judged by an international panel of judges representing each of the participating associations (FINAT, FPLMA, JFLP, LMAI, PEIAC, SALMA, TLMI). The L9 is an alliance of global label associations formed to jointly formulate policies and to collect strategic information of global interest to the worldwide label industry.

The BOB winners are:

Flexography

Labeltronix, USA for California Love
The award was received by Eric Shepard

A very busy eye-catching illustration guaranteed to make the casual customer take a second look at the label. A nice example of high quality flexo at its best.

Letterpress

Shimokuni Co. Ltd., Japan for Kunimaro Sake
The award was received by Mr Shimokuni

A well printed label with a plethora of detail hidden in the design. A fitting result from the letterpress technology.

Offset litho

Multi-Color Corporation North America Wine & Spirits, USA for Borne of Fire
The award was received by Craig Bushman

A really dramatic image of the bird of prey, with the sharp detail in the wings and the intricate design in the body and the tree trunk. The addition of hot foiling and embossing/debossing takes this label to a totally different level.

Digital Printing

Syracuse Label & Surround Printing, USA for Drawbridge Gin
The award was received by Kathy Alaimo, Paul Roux and Mark Howard.

A dramatic looking label with plenty of detail in the illustration and a viewing circle for the customer to view the product.
