HERMA winner at Label Industry Global Awards
A trophy for the global innovation in low-migration label adhesives: at this year’s Label Industry Global Awards, HERMAsuperTack (63Vst) won the Innovation Award for companies with more than 300 employees, honouring the innovative power and creativity of the family-owned business from Filderstadt, Germany. Ralf Drache, Sales Director Germany and Head of Marketing at HERMA Self-Adhesive Materials: “We are very proud of having received the Innovation Award at this year’s Labelexpo fair in Brussels in front of more than 500 industry colleagues. Innovations ensure that companies are future-oriented, create growth, and are key factors in international competition. Receiving this award from a prestigious jury is a special honour for us, and also an obligation to continuously develop our products. Great praise is due to the commitment of our employees, whose creativity and innovative approach are indispensable for the development of innovative products such as HERMAsuperTack (63Vst).”
HERMAsuperTack (63Vst) is the first entirely resin-free adhesive for labels that are required to offer extremely high adhesion as soon as they are applied. In the absence of resins, which make up most of an adhesive’s migrating components, it is an exceptionally low-migration solution. It satisfies the rating criteria for correction factor 2, thereby reaching the approval for contact with dry, moist, and fatty foodstuffs. Its excellent initial tack makes HERMAsuperTack (63Vst) ideally suited for problem-solving when it comes to films and moist, fatty, or slightly dirty surfaces – its range extends well beyond food labelling. It makes the most of its advantages at near-freezing temperatures combined with condensation. Despite outstanding tack and optimal migration levels, HERMAsuperTack (63Vst) can be processed as easily as conventional dispersion adhesives.
Mike Fairley, head of the judges: “On behalf of the judging panel, I would like to commend and congratulate our finalists and winners and thank them for giving us an excellent showcase of their spirit and commitment to the world of label printing. I hope their success stories help inspire others to push ahead with our industry’s continued development and give us extra drive for improvement in the future.” Headed by Mike Fairley, the panel included Thomas Hagmaier, past-president of FINAT; Craig Moreland, chairman of the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI); Rosina Obermayer, editor of NarrowWebTech; and Andy Thomas, Strategic Director, Labels & Labeling.
About the Label Industry Global Awards
The Label Industry Global Awards were created in 2004 to celebrate innovation and excellence. They are the label industry's highest accolades. Held by Tarsus, the Labelexpo fair organizer, they are awarded annually, alternately at the Labelexpo Americas in Chicago and at the Labelexpo in Brussels. The Innovation Awards are presented to two companies, one with more than 300 employees, one with fewer, honouring special innovations in the labelling industry in the fields of technology and business practice. The competition entries are assessed according to innovativeness, practical impact on the market, and economic as well as ecological aspects.
