HERMA: Smooth and quiet every time

HERMA unveils new adhesive:
Smooth and quiet every time
• HERMA's new 42C adhesive was developed specifically for the labels that are used to seal wet wipe pouches.
• It is characterised by especially consistent, smooth and silent peeling, and is highly resistant to water, oils and other liquids.
• As a UV cross-linked acrylic based adhesive, the 42C is entirely solvent-free.

The wet wipes market has expanded very quickly in view of the many product benefits. Besides high practicality, the success of wet wipes is partly attributable to their secure, hygienic, reliable and, in particular, resealable packaging. From the consumer's perspective, the new HERMA 42C adhesive is now ushering in new standards of visual and tactile appeal. Conceived specifically for the labels that seal wet wipe pouches, it is characterised by especially consistent, smooth and silent peeling in conjunction with most plastic and film surfaces. Its very high cohesion avoids adhesive residues and also resists the elastic forces encountered with curved surfaces, such as those often incorporated in the design of flexible packaging for wet wipes. To ensure that the labels retain their benefits for the entire life of the packaging, the 42C adhesive offers good resistance to water, oils and other liquids, as well as the effects of light, moisture and ageing. It offers another advantage when applied to the transparent film labels that are regularly used for this type of packaging: the adhesive does not become cloudy or milky even after the pack has been opened and reclosed many times.

Entirely solvent-free
The outstanding product attributes of the acrylic based 42C adhesive are achieved by cross-linking through exposure to UV light. The formulation dispenses with solvents entirely. It is a selling point that is not to be underestimated by label manufacturers and their customers because wet wipes are used primarily for babies and young children – and contact with the sealing label cannot always be avoided.

HERMA ranks among the pioneers of UV cross-linked acrylic based adhesives and has already developed a series of innovative adhesive materials using the relevant technology, including laser-printed film labels capable of resisting seawater. The new HERMA 42C adhesive is available immediately for numerous conventional film based label materials.
