Heidelberg expands portfolio for growth market of electromobility to coincide with Hannover Messe
As the number of electric vehicle registrations continues to rise, so too does the need to be able to charge multiple vehicles in the same place and at the same time. This is precisely why Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) last year launched the Heidelberg Wallbox Energy Control unit with integrated load management, which can charge up to 16 networked vehicles simultaneously. That makes the unit an attractive charging solution for apartment buildings, businesses, housing associations, and corporate clients in the hotel and hospitality sector. These customers also require an intelligent and transparent control system for their charging infrastructure. At the virtual Hannover Messe, which runs from April 12 to 16, the Heidelberg Combox control system is therefore being unveiled.
Heidelberg Combox for smart control of the charging process
The Heidelberg Combox control system uses a network interface to facilitate and extend access to the Heidelberg Wallbox Energy Control unit. Via a web interface or a backend system, users obtain status information, troubleshooting and evaluation options, access to both current and saved charging processes, and the possibility of updating the entire charging infrastructure’s software. The OCPP 1.6 application protocol, which standardizes communication between charging stations and a central management system, provides the link to various cloud-based backend providers, which ensures remote access to their entire charging infrastructure.
The Heidelberg Combox leader function also means it takes control of the entire load management network, serving as a user-friendly control system in a network comprising up to 16 connected Heidelberg Wallbox Energy Control units.
The Heidelberg Combox and Combox Lite versions available differ only in terms of design and connection. The technology and functions are identical and can be installed away from the charging stations. The Heidelberg Combox version shares the attractive design of the established Heidelberg Wallbox family, with status display and stainless steel housing. The eye-catching solution can also be installed outdoors. The Heidelberg Combox Lite version, on the other hand, can be mounted on an existing top hat rail directly in the sub-distributor or control cabinet. Both versions are available from electrical retailers, wholesalers, and certified electricians.
“Consumers are looking for smart and customer-friendly solutions in all areas of their lives, and the charging of electric vehicles is no exception,” says Heidelberg CEO Rainer Hundsdörfer. “We are responding to this trend by launching our Heidelberg Combox and are systematically adding smart solutions to our portfolio in the growth market of electromobility,” he adds.
Heidelberg showcases entire e-mobility portfolio at virtual Hannover Messe
Heidelberg will be presenting its entire portfolio of charging solutions at the digital Hannover Messe 2021 – the Heidelberg Wallbox Home Eco unit for quick and easy charging in the private domain, the Heidelberg Wallbox Energy Control unit with load management for reliably charging several networked electric vehicles, and the new Heidelberg Combox control system. Anyone with an interest in these products who has purchased a ticket for Hannover Messe can access the presentation from April 12 via the link www.hannovermesse.de and can also, if required, use the dialog function to talk to a Heidelberg expert.
