Germark invests in Domino’s ink jet technology to provide a better service to their clients
Domino was delighted to welcome Iban Cid, President of Germark, onto Stand No 9A60 on the opening morning of Labelexpo 2017, when he came to take ownership of his 7 colour Domino N610i ink jet label press, being demonstrated on the Domino stand. The press will be delivered to the Barcelona-based company immediately after the show. One of the early adopters of digital printing technology, this investment represents Germark’s first step into digital ink jet printing.
This successful family owned business, which was founded in 1958 by Iban’s father, employs 104 people and had a turnover of 11.7 million Euros in 2016. They are recognised market leaders in the premium label printing industry in Spain with a large international customer base, operating across all sectors including health & beauty, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, industrial and chemical.
Utilising a comprehensive selection of printing technologies including letterpress, flexo, rotary and flatbed silk screen, and adhesive and silicone coating, Germark offers a complete range of labeling solutions to its client base. These include printing self-adhesive decorative labels, promotional labels, functional tags, RFID labels and shrink sleeves through to providing labeling, print & apply, and shrink sleeve applicator machines and thermal transfer printers for their customers’ own use.
Renowned for being innovators in their field, Germark was the first company in Spain to invest in a digital label press in 2000, and also the first to invest in a printing, adhesive and silicone coating press in 2008. Their first venture into digital printing was with a dry toner press but they switched to liquid toner in 2006.
Mr Iban Cid, President of Germark explains what has prompted the company to make the move into digital ink jet technology: “Domino’s N610i digital ink jet press is a good complement to our existing print technologies, enabling us to now offer a complete range of solutions to our customers.”
Iban continues, “We conducted extensive research and visited two of Domino’s existing N610i customers in the UK and France before deciding to invest in a 7 colour Domino N610i label press. We were particularly impressed by the high print quality, the cost-effective production costs, and with the added value capability to print digitally textured labels. In addition, the high opacity of the white ink will enable us to replace conventional silk-screen jobs with ink jet for short print runs.”
Iban, a former President of FINAT (the European association for the self-adhesive label industry) and ANFEC (the Spanish association of label printers) concludes, “Germark is a forward-thinking business that constantly innovates and proactively seeks to offer profitable solutions that will help to contribute to the success of our clients’ brands. We are delighted to be introducing Domino’s ink jet technology into our portfolio, providing our clients with the opportunity to be more competitive and allowing us to give our customers a better service.”
