DuPont Packaging Graphics Customers JV Uniflex and LLC “Reprostudia” Win with Cyrel® Flexographic Printing Plates
Important Industry Awards Recognize DuPont™ Cyrel® DPR Flexo Plate Users
DuPont Packaging Graphics (DuPont) customers JV Uniflex, a leader in the flexographic printing market in Belarus and LLC Reprostudia, one of the biggest converters in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), were recently recognized in London at the FlexoTech International Print & Innovations Award 2013, one of the industry’s highest honors. The award was granted based on the use of DuPont™ Cyrel® DPR flexographic printing plates in the award-winning entries.
The judges granted JV Uniflex the Supreme Award for its Moskovskiy Kartofel entry. The same entry was also awarded in the category “Flexo job previously printed by another process.”
A statement from the jury, composed of an international panel of judges with an independent chairman, read, “This category shows how the old limitations of flexo have been confined to history. The process now offers all that brand owners could want and this Supreme Winner takes flexo print quality significantly beyond that of gravure. A truly deserving winner!”
JV Uniflex and LLC “Reprostudia” also recently were awarded “Manufacturer of the Year” at the ROSUPAK show, the premier international exhibition for the packaging industry in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.
The cooperation between JV Uniflex and DuPont started in 2007, when the existing plate processing workflow was questioned. Printing issues that occurred from long print runs, such as rapid contamination of plates and large amounts of solvent which resulted in high consumption of plates, were key drivers for testing new plates.
“The DuPont™ Cyrel® DPR plate was able to fulfill the increased demands of the printers and had in addition the astonishing affect that the whole print run could be printed with only one plate,” said Eugene Lungin, director of LLC Reprostudia.
After this successful start, JV Uniflex invested in DuPont™ Cyrel® equipment. Two DuPont™ Cyrel® interchangeable platemaking lines and three Cyrel® Digital Imagers were installed. Cyrel® DPR became the preferred plate as it provided job reproduction consistency. Controls at each platemaking step were arranged to ensure superior quality standards were maintained.
Recently LLC “Reprostudia” tested the new DuPont™ Cyrel® DSP Performance Plates, with positive results including increased solid ink intensity. Printers unwilling invest in new equipment have almost fully converted to Cyrel® DSP plates.
