Confectionery specialist Kalfany extends print capabilities with HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press

Based in Herbolzheim, Germany, converter Kalfany Süße Werbung has extended its range of print capabilities with the addition of a narrow web HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press to its portfolio. The new press is expected to enable Kalfany to further extend its capabilities in printing high-quality personalised products, and to further streamline the production of the confectionery packaging and promotional products for which the company is best known.

"With the purchase of the HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press, we leverage the many years of successful collaboration with HP Indigo," commented Klaus Richter, Deputy Managing Director and COO, Kalfany Süße Werbung GmbH & Co KG. "With this investment, we continue to produce individualised print products of the highest quality, and ensure we are well equipped to meet the customer requirements of tomorrow.”
Kalfany, a subsidiary of Zertus group, which also includes the company Dextro Energy and Import Wilms, operates its own printing house dedicated to printing food packaging, and specialises in promotional confectionery items. It is expected that the new HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press will be used predominantly to print flexible packaging for products such as packets of gummy bears or wrapping foil for chocolate figures.

The HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press prints at speeds of up to 60 metres per minute on substrates with a maximum web width of 340 millimetres and a maximum thickness of 450 microns. It is designed for a wide range of substrates including self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves, wrap-around labels, tube laminate or cartons. By default, the press prints in 4 colours and can print with up to 7 colours on press, including white, spot colours, and other special inks.
