BOBST Bielefeld joins the REVO Team to enlarge REVO scope to solvent and water-based flexo inks.
REVO Team, the industry partners working together to introduce the Digital Flexo revolution in the packaging industry, announce that the REVO Digital Flexo manufacturing process will now include solvent and water-based flexo inks. Following a successful experience with Bobst Firenze over the past two years, the REVO Partners have invited Bobst Bielefeld, a leading manufacturer of CI Flexo presses, to join the REVO Team as an active partner.
Jens Torkel, Managing Director of Bobst Bielefeld, says, "We are looking forward to working together with the REVO Team. For many years we have been adopting digital automation through technologies like the SmartGPSTM systems we have in all of our press lines, and we are ready to develop new technologies to optimize the REVO process. We feel the need of the packaging industry to simplify and standardize the printing process. REVO Digital Flexo has proven to be an excellent process to make life easier for converters at the same time giving them access to higher efficiency."
Niklas Ollson, Marketing Director of Flint Inks for Narrow Web, says, "Over the last two years we have concentrated REVO activities in UV flexo ink technologies, achieving exceptional results in quality, efficiency and consistency. Wide-web converters have been asking REVO Partners to extend our activities to solvent and water-based inks. We are excited to start a new REVO program, and we are looking forward to continuing the success we have achieved in the narrow and mid-web packaging industry."
A REVO Program for solvent and water-based inks will start after the Drupa exhibition. The first results are expected to be announced during the first half of 2017.
REVO Team is a group of industry partners who have been working together since December 2013 to develop a turn-key manufacturing process called Digital Flexo. The REVO methodology involves several technologies, including digital press automation, ECG Extended Color Gamut implementation, standardization of the entire technology chain (plate, anilox, inks, prepress, substrates, inspection), and the development of new REVO-compliant products. REVO converters say they obtain high color consistency, repeatability, and flexibility, along with significant increases in measurable results such as manufacturing efficiency and productivity, after using the REVO combination of technologies.
The REVO Team partners include some of the leading suppliers to the printed packaging industry.
They are:
- Americk Packaging: packaging printing and converting
- Apex International: anilox rollers – Drupa stand Hall 11 / B26
- AVT: quality inspection systems – Drupa stand Hall 09 / C60
- BOBST: printing and converting presses – Drupa stand Hall 10/A60
- DuPont: flexographic printing plates – Drupa stand Hall 08b / C21
- ESKO: pre-press systems for packaging – Drupa stand Hall 08b / A23
- Flint: UV, solvent- and water-based inks – Drupa stand Hall 03 / B53
- X-Rite / Pantone: color measurement and standardization systems – Drupa stand Hall 08b / A23
- UPM Raflatac: self-adhesive and film substrates
