Arosetâ„¢ PS 5333 pressure sensitive adhesive provides high solids and lower applied cost

Ashland Specialty Ingredients, a business unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), today launched Aroset PS 5333, a pure-acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) that is free of hexane, toluene, and vinyl acetate monomer. The adhesive’s high-solids and low viscosity mean it can be applied with conventional coating techniques, yet can be run at faster line speeds to reduce applied cost.

"End-users are helping to drive legislative change across Europe to protect the environment, and that’s moving tape and graphic manufacturers to rethink their products," said Stuart May, business director, Ashland Specialty Ingredients, EMEA. "Aroset PS 5333 adhesive gives them a means to improve their product ahead of changing regulations, so they can maintain compliance well into the future without sacrificing performance."

In vinyl graphic and industrial tape applications, this solvent-based adhesive delivers aggressive tack and excellent ultimate peel adhesion on a wide variety of substrates. It has great affinity for various types of foams and provides great anchorage to monomeric and polymeric vinyl. In testing it demonstrates enhanced aging performance and good cohesion properties, even at elevated temperatures.

Aroset PS 5333 adhesive shows robust wet properties. It provides superior pigment acceptance, wetting and stability when coated on release liners. It is a significant addition to Ashland’s existing line of solvent, solvent-free, emulsion and UV/EB adhesives and coatings.

"This product demonstrates Ashland’s commitment to delivering innovation and value to our customers," said Jacob van der Bent, sales manager Europe. "Our service, application and process experience provides customers with the right balance of performance and sustainability to help them compete more effectively."
