Achertäler Druckerei wins three FINAT Label Awards 2024 with its artist wine label
Achertäler Druckerei GmbH & Co KG can look back on an extremely successful award ceremony at the FINAT Label Awards 2024, which took place in Athens on 22 May. Companies from 22 countries took part in this year's global competition organised by the European Association for the Pressure Sensitive Label Industry.
A mini-series of two labels with motifs from pictures by Ortenau artist Bastian Fiala, which he recently created especially for a limited edition Pinot Noir from the Waldulmer Winzergenossenschaft, won three first prizes. The first victory was in the ‘Combination printing process’ category. The jury was so impressed by the technical realisation that these labels were named ‘Group Winner of Printing Processes’ - and also won the ‘Best in Show’ prize. This means first place out of all the entries, which is equivalent to the title of ‘European Champion’. The expert jury on their ‘Best in Show’ assessment: "This was a really impressive label which took the entire judging panel by storm. Offering outstanding visual impact the label was difficult to get out of our minds…“
Frank Neumann, Managing Director of the Black Forest-based print shop, says: ‘We are incredibly proud of these awards. They symbolise the team effort that our company is capable of. It was only possible to realise this special label thanks to the diverse expertise of all the specialist departments involved.’ Sales Manager Felix Neumann adds: ‘Of course, you also have to have the right customer in order to realise such an extraordinary idea together with them. In close collaboration with the Waldulmer Winzergenossenschaft and the artist Bastian Fiala, we created an exclusive wine with top-quality packaging that will delight red wine and art lovers alike.’
The special feature of this label series was the reproduction of the original pictures by the artist Bastian Fiala. This very special printing result was achieved over three passes. The special print was technically realised as follows: 3c Pantone, matt black, gloss black, rotary screen printing with neon orange to recreate the colour application, the gloss effects and the original colours used, relief embossing to partially recreate the brushstrokes and colour application areas, relief gloss varnish for special parts of the image (pupils, earrings etc.).
