ogether with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Henkel is introducing the training courses of its newly established PSA Academy. Henkel is the only adhesives supplier offering the four main PSA technologies hotmelt, solvent acrylic, UV acrylic and water-based under its Loctite, Technomelt and Aquence brands.
Enabling its customers to take innovative approaches and become more efficient and sustainable – this is at the heart of Henkel’s packaging and labeling adhesives business.
This year’s Labelexpo, taking place from September 25thto 28thin Brussels, is celebrating competitiveness with its motto: “Gain an unfair advantage”. This – admittedly provocative – guiding theme of the world’s most important labeling fair stresses the importance of innovation, leading edge production processes and superior materials for succeeding in today’s competitive labeling market.

UPM Raflatac has announced Henkel as the winner of the RafCycle® Award at Labelexpo Europe 2017 in Brussels. The RafCycle Award is presented in recognition of excellence in recycling and environmental performance.
For all companies involved in the value chain, ensuring the safety of food packaging continues to be an essential task. This is a view shared by many of the industry professionals who participated in a survey conducted within the scope of Henkel’s Food Safe Packaging Webinars in 2017: 79 percent of them stated that the relevance of food safe packaging has increased in their company in the past twelve months.
Henkel is introducing the Technomelt Supra Pro Range, a new line of hotmelt adhesive products for end-of-line packaging – in time for the Fachpack 2018 trade fair. As a leading manufacturer of adhesives, the company offers a range of food-safe solutions that meet the highest consumer safety expectations.
With its PSA Academy, Henkel offers a comprehensive training portfolio supporting professionals at tape and label producers or printers as well as manufacturers of PSA-based specialties across Europe. Following several successful training courses at the Henkel Hotmelt PSA Competence Center in Germany, registration for the next course in English in 2018 is now open. The eight-day intensive course will take place from October 8 through 12 and November 12 through 14.
Building on its existing efforts and progress in sustainable packaging, Henkel is stepping up its commitment to further promote a circular economy: The company has set itself additional targets embedded in an expanded strategic framework.
At the COMPAMED fair in Düsseldorf (November 12-15, 2018), Henkel will present its comprehensive portfolio of adhesive materials for applications in healthcare.
Global food safety regulation is becoming increasingly complex. For the packaging industry, this means that the assurance of their food safety measures meeting the necessary requirements will continue to be a key challenge in 2019. As a market leader for high-impact adhesive solutions for the packaging industry, Henkel is committed to sharing its knowledge of the broad and complex field of food safe packaging with its industry partners.
Packaging safety is an important topic for all players along the value chain in the food industry. It is also a complex field that is constantly evolving, continuously influenced by technological innovation, market developments, and new legislation. As an industry leader in the field of food safe packaging adhesives, Henkel’s experts expect two key topics to strongly shape the discussion around food safe packaging in 2019: The global effects of new food safety legislation in different regional markets as well as the implications of a change in packaging materials with the goal of more sustainable packaging.
Consumer expectations toward food safety in packaging are rising and legislators are tightening the rules to ensure this. As a driving force in the field of laminating adhesives that enable food-safe packaging, Henkel is now introducing a new solution to the market. This formulation was specifically developed for high-performance packaging applications, which include thermal processes like e.g. sterilization. It is completely free of GLYMO, epoxy silane and heavy metals. Loctite Liofol LA 2798 has been designed as a modular system and is highly versatile as such. The base component can be combined with different hardeners for the respective area of application: for sterilization processes, aggressive filling goods, and hot filling processes. The fields of application range from pet food and medical applications to convenience products.
When it comes to packaging, sustainability and smart solutions are more important than ever for consumers. This shift is happening fast and its consequences for the industry are immediate: Consumers are making their voices heard and flexing their buying power to foster a change that has far-reaching consequences along the whole value chain. As a leader for adhesives in packaging and labeling, Henkel anticipates these demands and supports its customers with innovative solutions created with consumers in mind. In line with these trends, Henkel will showcase a variety of adhesive solutions for labeling September 24-27 at the 2019 Labelexpo in Brussels at booth A22 in hall 5. There the company will focus on sustainability and smart labels, with the launch of a new pressure-sensitive wash-off label solution for PET and food-safe hotmelts.
Making processes more efficient and sustainable – this is the aim that guides Henkel, as a leading adhesive manufacturer, in its ongoing development of new solutions. It is therefore essential for the company to keep an eye on the entire value chain. Logistics packaging is one example of this: at this year’s FachPack, Henkel will be presenting its new Technomelt Supra PS adhesives, which can replace plastic films, intermediate layers and anti-skid mats in securing pallets. These solutions are reducing not just the number but also the quantity of different materials utilized – and thereby the waste generated in logistics. At the same time, the solution also helps increase process efficiency and safety, while lowering overall costs. Henkel will be showcasing this and other adhesive solutions in Hall 1, Booth1-108, at FachPack 2019.
